Cabinet refacing is a process that involves updating the external appearance of your cabinetry without replacing the entire cabinet structure. It's a cost-effective and less disruptive alternative to a full cabinet replacement. Here's a general overview of how cabinet refacing typically works:
1. Consultation:
- Begin with a free in-home consultation to discuss your vision for the space. Choose your door style, colour, and receive a quote.
2. Measurement Appointment:
- Schedule an appointment to measure cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and end gables. This appointment includes an overview of the refacing process.
Optional Additions:
- Explore optional upgrades such as new drawers, crown moulding, light moulding, and extending cabinets to full ceiling height. Discuss these options during the consultation and finalize details at the measurement appointment.
3. Order and Inspection:
- Once measurements are complete, pieces are ordered and inspected upon arrival at our workshop. We will call you and schedule installation once all the materials are received and ready to install.
4. Installation:
Removal of Doors and Drawer Fronts:
- Existing cabinet doors and drawer fronts are removed, and any recyclable metal parts are salvaged.
Surface Preparation:
- Cabinet surfaces are cleaned and prepared for vinyl strip application to the cabinet edges.
Replacement of Doors, Drawer Fronts, and Gables:
- New gables, kicks, and other materials are attached as needed. New cabinet doors and drawer fronts are installed and adjusted for proper spacing.
Handles:
- Handles are installed according to your preferences, with options discussed during installation.
Final Touches + Clean Up:
- Cabinets are checked for proper functioning, soft close mechanisms are installed, and interiors are cleaned. Tools are packed up, and a final walkthrough is conducted. Aftercare instructions are provided.
Important Notes:
- Cabinet refacing focuses on visible surfaces. Structural issues or layout changes may require alternative solutions. While refacing can address minor irregularities, it's primarily a cosmetic update for a quick transformation.
